i love to read everyboby's xangas but by the time i get done doing that i'm too tired to post one of my own...sorry.  i'm so glad that spring is in the air, which means that summer is right around the corner!!!!!  we're going to Florida for  spring break and i can't wait to get out of Michigan and into the HEAT.  i'm definitely not a cold weather person...and i live in MI why??? i'm just praying that the weather is awesome while we're there or i might have cause to murmur and i don't want to be a murmurer.

another reason i can't wait for the warmer weather is because i love to work in my garden. i just finished this great book by Francine Rivers called "Leota's Garden"  Leota loved to work in her garden too for lots of good reasons - alot of them spiritual.  She made a good observation....Everything important had happened in a garden...

      "God created the garden for man and placed him in it.  Adam and Eve fell into sin in a garden. Jesus taught in a garden. Our Lord prayed in a garden. He was betrayed in a garden. And He arose in a garden. And someday--we will all be reunited in the garden"

i just thought that was pretty interesting and thought i'd pass it along.

well, i have risen from my hibernation to post an entry for once in a blue moon.

nobody ask me for any parenting wisdom or advice  because i am completely void of any brain matter concerning the subject. ok, there - i think i'll go back into hibernation now.

 i do have a quote -- it comes from the book of James. chapter 5 verse 12.....

"But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth, or by any other oath, but let your "yes" be yes , and your "no" be no, so that you don't fall into condemnation."

this was the verse form which our sermon came from on Sunday.  One of the points he made was that if we are a truthful person in all areas of our life, then we should not have to swear be cause our reputation for being a truthful person will preceed us and people will trust you that you are telling the truth and that you will do what you say you will do and that you will be faithful in the areas that require faithfulness. i'm sure our pastor said it a whole lot more intelligent sounding than that but i hope you get the jist.

SWEET VICTORY - CALVIN........BITTER DEFEAT - OHIO WESLEYEN    WOW what a game!!!!!! It was so awesome to beat the #2 team in the US DIV III and on their field. our guys were ecstatic to say the least.  we just hung around on the field after the game savouring the victory not wanting to leave the place whee they proved themselves as a team.  They will remember this high for a long time.  i must say though that I feel bad for the other team because we were in that same position last year against Wartburg. We were expected to win  and they won on a stinky goal in OT. I remember the feeling of shock and disbelief and disappointment having your season end so abruptly. One thing different about this year though - our goals were SWEET and we outplayed them.  So sorry for your loss Ohio but that's how the ball bounces!!!!    Calvin 2 - Ohio 1

Jared played awesome but got hurt really bad in the second half just after he went on the field - a knee right in the spine when he and another guy went up for the same header.  He's hurting pretty bad so pray for him.  I'm sure he wants to play in the next game so pray that he has a miraculous recovery and gets to play and play well.  We play next Friday and Sat if we win Friday or it will be Sat and Sun if we win Sat - still waiting to hear who we play and where.  this is a blast - i don't want it to end. GREAT JOB GUYS !!!!!!   GO CALVIN!!!!!
